Thanks for visiting Nordic Knowledge! This is my very first blog post, so I’ll start by introducing you to the site, what it’s about and what it aims to achieve.

What is Nordic Knowledge?

Nordic Knowledge has been set up as an online space offering informative blogs and articles for anything related to the Nordic countries and Northern European culture in general. The initial focus will be on travel, with blog posts sharing my experiences and travel tips, but I’ll also be gradually adding other pages on topics relating to culture, music, language and more.

What is classed as ‘Nordic’?

Geographically, the Nordic countries are generally classed as Denmark Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, plus their associated territories (Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Åland Islands).

For this site, the term ‘Nordic’ is used in it’s loosest sense, to refer to most of Northern Europe. So although most posts will be centered around the Scandinavian countries, they may also extend to northern Germany, Finland, Iceland and anywhere (or anything) else which could be considered Nordic by nature.

Who we are

We is currently, me, Jenny (or Juniper Lu). After looking to start up an online project for a while, I figured that almost all my interests have a shared connection to Scandinavia and Northern Europe. Although you can find a lot of information on travel and lifestyle in Scandinavia, I find that when you delve a little deeper, there is so much more that will make you fall in love with this part of the world. Personally I love learning little nuggets of information on the culture, the languages and just anything which outsiders don’t often hear about. I hope that by sharing my travel experiences and the things I learn, whether it’s about a band, a TV show, a certain dialect, a cool area to visit or an interesting historical event, readers out there will find it just as interesting as I do.

Want to contribute to Nordic Knowledge?

As you can see, the site is still in it’s infancy. There will be a lot of changes and edits over the coming weeks and months while content is being added. If you have an article you would like to post as a guest blogger or would like to discuss collaborating, get in touch! The site is currently run in my spare time out of love, but if we ever meet I will surely buy you a drink!
